48” x 72” acrylic on canvas, custom wood frame.
This piece will always hold a special place for me and the meaning behind it feels more relevant than ever lately. Inspired by a crossroads, it explores how often it’s the world and external circumstances forcing us to press pause, versus getting caught in our own paralysis from fear of the unknown. More often than not, I used to think it was the latter, but the last few years have certainly challenged that perspective.
I loved getting lost in all the hidden symbolism I when made this and still love having this little guy I found tucked in a corner of an antique shop over 15 years ago. Not sure if it was my love for elephants or the fact he looked a little sad, but something about him spoke to me🐘
